Bungalows and side-splits
A lot of Etobicoke was built in the 1950s and 60s. Streets in Alderwood, the Kingsway and Islington are full of bungalows and side-splits with a single attached garage. Many of those openings are narrower than today’s standard doors, and some doors are original or close to it.
On a door that age, the springs, cables and rollers have usually been replaced at least once. When the panels themselves are rusted through or cracked, a new door is the better spend. We’ll tell you which way we’d go and why. Our residential garage door repair page covers the repairs we do.
Townhouses and low headroom
Newer townhouse complexes in south Etobicoke and around Islington-City Centre West often have tight garages with low headroom, or storage racks hanging where a ceiling opener would go. A wall-mount opener sits beside the door instead, which frees up the ceiling. Ask about one if your garage is short on space. See residential openers for the models we install.
Industrial units
Rexdale and the industrial areas near Highway 427 have plenty of warehouses and light industrial units. We repair and install sectional overhead doors, rolling steel doors and dock equipment, and can set up scheduled maintenance so a door doesn’t fail on a busy day.

Questions from Etobicoke homeowners
My garage has low headroom. Can I still have an opener?
Usually. A wall-mount opener mounts beside the door rather than on the ceiling, which suits low garages and ones with storage overhead. We’ll check the space when we come out.
Can you fit a new door in an older, narrower opening?
Yes. We measure the opening and order a door made to that size if a stock door won’t fit.
Can you make my garage door quieter?
Most noise comes from worn rollers, loose hardware or a dry track and springs. New nylon rollers and a tune-up fix a lot of it. More in our post on why garage doors get noisy.
