Doors and openers reaching their age

Much of Newmarket’s housing went up from the 1980s to the 2000s, in neighbourhoods like Stonehaven, Summerhill Estates and Woodland Hill. A lot of those homes are on their first or second garage door, and the original openers are near the end of their life. If your opener is loud, slow or keeps reversing, it may be the opener, or it may be a door out of balance that’s making the opener work too hard. We check the door first. More on our garage door openers page.

Replacing the door

When the door is past repair, we measure and quote a new one. Most people choose an insulated steel door, and carriage-style doors with windows suit a lot of Newmarket’s two-storey homes. We install Steel-Craft, Amarr and Hörmann doors with LiftMaster openers. See residential garage doors.

Older homes near Main Street

Houses closer to Main Street are older, and some have a detached garage with an older door on extension springs. Those springs need a safety cable running through them so a broken spring can’t fly loose. If yours don’t have one, ask us to add it.

Commercial doors

For businesses along Davis Drive and in Newmarket’s industrial areas, we install and repair sectional overhead doors and rolling steel doors, and handle repairs on commercial operators. See commercial garage door repair.

Questions from Newmarket homeowners

What is an extension spring safety cable?

It’s a steel cable that runs through the middle of each extension spring and is fixed at both ends. If the spring breaks, the cable stops it from whipping across the garage. Every door on extension springs should have them.

Should I repair or replace my opener?

If the opener is under ten years old and the problem is a sensor, remote or gear, a repair is usually enough. If it’s older and noisy, a new LiftMaster with Wi-Fi and battery backup is often the better spend.

Do you repair doors you didn’t install?

Yes. We repair all makes and models.
