Detached garages and wood frames
Older Windsor neighbourhoods like Walkerville and Riverside have a lot of detached garages, many of them reached from the alley. The door on those garages is often hung in a wood frame that has been rained on for decades. When the frame rots, the door stops sealing, the track brackets lose their grip, and water gets in along the bottom.
When we replace a door like that, we check the frame first. If it’s soft, we replace the wood, and we can wrap the new frame in aluminum capping so it doesn’t rot again. Newer homes in South Windsor and Forest Glade mostly have attached double garages, and the calls there are the usual ones: springs, cables and openers.
New doors and openers
We install insulated steel doors, carriage-style doors, and aluminum and glass doors from Steel-Craft, Amarr and Hörmann, with LiftMaster openers. You get a written quote after we measure. See residential garage doors for styles.
Dock doors and commercial work
Windsor runs on trucking and auto parts, and both depend on loading docks. We install and repair sectional overhead doors, rolling steel doors, dock levelers and dock seals for plants and warehouses near E.C. Row and the 401. If a dock door goes down mid-shift, call us and we’ll tell you how soon we can be there. See loading dock doors.
How booking works
Our shop is at 4120 Ridgeway Drive in Mississauga, a long way up the 401. We don’t have a Windsor office, so don’t count on a same-day visit. Call, tell us what the door is doing and where you are, and we’ll give you a date. You get the price before any work starts.
Questions from Windsor homeowners
Can you replace the door on a detached garage?
Yes. We measure the opening, check the frame and quote the door. If the frame needs work, that’s on the quote too.
What is aluminum capping?
It’s a cover of formed aluminum that wraps the wood frame around the garage door. The wood underneath stays dry, so it doesn’t rot, and you don’t have to paint it.
Do you service dock levelers?
Yes. We repair and install dock levelers, dock seals and the overhead doors above them for warehouses and plants.
